There's a certain sense of joy when you're lucky enough to document such an important day for a couple. When the bride is a good friend of yours, the joy is overwhelming. Anna and I have spent many nights talking about relationships and the ups and downs that come with them. I remember when she first went out with Dino and to now see them happily married is a great reminder that you never know what can happen.

A year before their wedding, I was in NY for work and staying with Anna. We dreamed up a perfect destination wedding for her and Dino before they were even engaged. It's so fun to think that dreams come true and let's face it, a destination wedding in a postcard perfect bay on a remote island in Greece is as dreamy as it gets. Don't even get me started on that incredibly special wedding gown! Anna & Dino are a wonderful example of anything being possible.

Marianna & Vincent | iCi, Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY

A tipi, a charming Brooklyn brownstone, and an abundance of laughter were just a few elements that made Marianna and Vincent's wedding overbrimming with charm and joy. And the dancing! The excitement everyone had to dance and celebrate was an extension of how lively Marianna and Vincent were as individual and especially as a couple. I could go on and on about how unique Marianna's knee length dress and Vincent's boutonniere holder were, but those things are a fraction of the significance of their wedding day.

Michelle & Tyler | Roblar Winery, Santa Ynez, CA

It's always a joy to witness the beginning of a marriage. With Michelle & Tyler, I not only got the chance to photograph the happiness on their wedding day, but got to see their undeniable connection when meeting with them prior to the big day. I remember thinking how did these two find each other in such a big city? I thought how lucky they were to have found a partner in one another. It was something in the way he looked at her and the way she easily laughed at his jokes. I'm a big believer in these kinds of seemingly little moments making up the solid foundation for a meaningful relationship. I wish them well in their married life and hope they look back on these photos often and fondly.

Suzanna & Ron's bicoastal romance from LA to New York made it's way to Suzanna's hometown of Melbourne, Australia for their wedding. The intimate ceremony was held at the historic State Library of Victoria in the heart of the city. The day was a perfect blend of classic and modern elements including a 1950's Rolls Royce and a 5 course dinner at the ultra hip Saint Crispin. Needless to say, all of the details added up to an unforgettable celebration.

Jackie & Kyu's day combined a relaxed outdoor ceremony with a traditional Korean Paebaek ceremony during the reception. Although the couple met and live in New York City, they wanted to have their wedding where Kyu grew up in Southern California. Saddlerock Ranch provided the perfect backdrop for their stylish outdoor wedding. The day started off with Jackie cuddling with Stanley, the resident giraffe, and then promptly breaking out into a rash! It turns out she was allergic. Thankfully, a little allergy medicine cured the rash and she was off to the first look. Jackie had 3 Vera Wang gowns to wear throughout the course of the day and a traditional hanbok for the Paebaek ceremony. The Paebaek ceremony was filled with laughs as the couple caught about a dozen dates and chestnuts (representing the number of kids they will have). The night capped off with In-N-Out burgers. What's more California than that?!

Just Married | How to Celebrate your Wedding in Style

Visra & Chris' wedding at home is a part of Just Married! To be included in a book with such a wonderful group of photographers is a complete joy. Just Married, edited by celebrity wedding planner and stylist Fiona Leahy, celebrates weddings with a unique vision. The attention to detail and care in planning within each wedding shows how you can put a twist on tradition and make your wedding an unforgettable celebration for everyone involved.

Margaret & Drew | 632 on Hudson, New York, NY

I loved Margaret & Drew's wedding that combined a traditional church ceremony with a super unique reception. After the ceremony in a quaint West Village church, the couple and their families traveled via pedi-cabs to 632 on Hudson. If you haven't seen this wonderfully special venue, you're in for a treat. The owner, Karen Lashinsky, has traveled the world collecting pieces that fill the townhouse's intimate spaces. She truly has created a romantic and inspirational atmosphere that serves as an amazing backdrop for wedding celebrations.

Emily & Ryan | Gedney Farm, Great Barrington, MA

Fall, a farmhouse, and lots of love and laughter. To say that I loved Emily & Ryan's wedding is a complete understatement. The combination of a crisp Fall day, the calming feeling that nature undoubtedly provides, and witnessing two people so in love commit to sharing their lives together was as perfect as any day can get. Congratulations Emily & Ryan!

Sonia & Victor | The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, New York, NY

Sonia & Victor had a beautiful wedding by the water in downtown New York. I loved that they embraced the busyness of the streets for a few photos. How great are Victor's socks with Sonia's shoes? It's even better that he picked those socks the morning of the wedding not knowing how perfect they would match her shoes. When it's meant to be, it's meant to be.

Courtney & Lazar | Dumbo, Brooklyn, NY

Courtney & Lazar are the coolest couple. Seriously. They have an ease about them that makes you want to just hang out. And knowing them as a couple makes you realize that "meant to be" does happen.

One of the best parts for me when meeting a couple is hearing about how they first met. I've heard a lot of great stories, but the simplicity of Courtney & Lazar's may be my favorite. Lazar complimented Courtney's hi-tops. She happened to be wearing them because it was casual Friday at her work. Lazar happened to be dropping something off from his work to hers. That's all it took.

Keeping up with being the coolest, they both had his and hers custom Nike i-D hi-tops made for the reception. And all of the guests danced down the soul train line in the street from the ceremony space to the reception!

Cypress | Letters

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Dena Robertson, the founder of Cypress. She not only inspired, but reinforced the idea of sending packages in the mail. Cypress is known for beautifully hand-crafted albums. I have been a fan for years and love to receive them in the mail.

Speaking of mail, I am a complete believer in mailing anything and everything to someone you hold dear. If only I could live in the days of quills and hand delivered letters via horseback. Don't get me wrong, I love a good email or Facebook post. But there's something to be said about an unexpected note that's been stamped, made a journey, and is waiting to spend time with you. What is there to say exactly? Well, I think you should unplug, take a moment and write a letter or send a piece of inspiration to that old friend, that new friend, your mom, your partner... and do it today. The receiver will surely smile from your thoughtful gesture. And won't you too?

Visra & Chris | Private residence, Woodside, CA

Julia & Andy | The New Museum, New York, NY

Julia & Andy's wedding veered away from the traditional starting with Julia's short wedding dress and ending with a minimalist reception at The New Museum overlooking the Lower East Side. I love when a wedding keeps the focus on the couple and when that couple decide to do it their way.

Hillary & Dan | Soyuzivka, Catskills, NY

Hillary & Dan's wedding was extra special because they rented out a Ukranian resort, Soyuzivka, in the Catskills for the entire weekend. Like their engagement session, we spent most of our time outdoors surrounded by nature. Family and friends arrived on Friday for the Bar-b-q and talent show. The wedding itself was filled with personal touches that just made the day so intimate and fun.

I love these vests that Dan had custom made for his groomsmen. Each vest was labeled with the groomsmen's names.

Sam, a groomsman, brewed his first batch of beer and made a special bottle for Hillary & Dan. Don't you love that the label is a photograph of Hillary & Dan!

All of the gorgeous & delicious cakes were created by their friend Melissa who was also a bridesmaid. Check out her other amazing creations at
